Announcing the 2025 SOCA Scholarship

To the members, alumni, and families of JCU, I am pleased to announce one of the many initiatives the Special Operations Communicators Association (SOCA) started over 16 years ago, the Annual SOCA Scholarship Program. SOCA will offer college scholarships for full-time college students, to deserving spouses, and college-aged child dependants of SOCA Members. Applicants are required to submit an essay on the topic below, to the SOCA Scholarship Committee. The committee will select the winners from all qualified entries and award two (2) $1,000 scholarships. It is SOCA’s goal to show our appreciation to those who contribute and sacrifice so much in support of our Country’s national objectives. SOCA thanks the members of JCU and your families for all you do.

Before filling out the scholarship application, be sure to have your essay in a Word document, so you can upload it into the application and also have your last transcript saved as a digital file and ready to upload in the blocks provided. The scholarship committee will select from all qualified entries to award the two $1,000 scholarships. Entries must be received by June 27, 2025. The winners will be notified before July 15, 2025, and announced on this page.

Essay topic:

  • In what ways should patriotism evolve in the 21st century to reflect both support for the military and a broader commitment to civic and social responsibility?

The use of AI to fully write your essay will be checked against an AI detector. We support the use of AI but want you to use new technology to brainstorm and assist you, not think for you.

Attach your transcript and essay submission on the SOCA website. Email events@thesoca.org with your questions. www.thesoca.org. Navigate to Initiatives and the drop-down will have Scholarships; click on that to take you to the submission form.

Missing information may come in to play if grading is tight.
